I was invited to Perth for the event Lighthouse to Leighton, a one way race to the finish line from Rottness Island to the mainland. Having spent so much time in the country in previous years I knew I should make the most of it, so decided to extend my trip.
I spent most of my time in Safety bay, a perfect flat water freestyle spot, this was the main spot in my ‘the bubble film’ section and one of my favourite spots in the world. This year I was able to gather a few clips together and put short freestyle clip online.
In the previous edition I was able to win the twin tip division of the L2L race. This year the wind was much lighter and I struggled in the conditions. I took my usual North Hadlow board and a 15m Dyno, Norths race kite, and hoped it would give me enough power. Unfortunately I was pipped to the line by another rider on a bigger foil kite. I wish it was windier to really fly across in a quick time but it was a very fun event and had a great atmosphere so regardless it was just a great day out.
As the wind continued to blow I had many more sessions and on the last day a storm came in. I had always wanted to jump the sand spit that creates the mega flat lagoon but being quite a large land gap I had never seen the right condition. When I got to the beach I knew that if I was ever going to do it then this was the day, so I grabbed my go pro and 9m Vegas and sent it!
