After a long weekend of wind and waves at the Merimbula Classic we started the long drive to Melbourne taking our time and planned to kite over the next 2 days to get to the city but were completely skunked on wind. We showed up in Melbourne on the 30th, dropped off the RV and picked up a rental car to go into city mode. We were greeted with a great afternoon session and met the guys from Kite Republic to setup the premiere on the 1’st and demo on the 2nd. These guys are running the best shop by far we’ve seen on the East Coast and are definitely on the pulse. They have a great membership and local following and it showed at the premiere. This was one of our biggest turnouts at the global premieres and definitely our biggest in Australia at well over 130 people. For me, this is why we do all of this, with a great partnership with shops like these we can make such a big impact and really inspire people to get on the water more often. Unfortunately, the next days demo was rained out but we did a did a classroom style question and answer at the shop. The next day we finally scored a proper St. Kilda Beach season on the second to last day and so on the final day of the trip we drove down to the 12 Apostles to shoot some lifestyle and be tourists. The trip we went by so fast with so many KM’s to cover and spots and shops to check but it would definitely be worth doing again!
